Meet The Culture Bearer: Bernard Robertson
Bernard Robertson of Sudan Social and Pleasure Club loves New Orleans. He helped found the club in 82 with a group of young men in their 20s who had grown up together since the age of 12 through Tambourine and Fan.

Meet the Culture Bearers: Calvin "lil Man" Jones
Calvin “lil Man” Jones Sr. is the third Grand Marshall of Young Men Olympics, Junior (YMO, Jr.) and also Vice President of the Valley of the Silent Men Social Aid and Pleasure Club. Born at Charity Hospital in 1951, he started going to second lines every Sunday by age 9.
Meet The Culture Bearer: Al Polite
Al Polite, born in July of 1958, grew up in the 7th Ward of New Orleans. For the last ten years he has been masking with the Spirit of FiYiYi and the Mandingo Warriors, but has been running with the tribe behind the scenes since his youth. As a child he found his path in life through Jerome Smith’s Tambourine and Fan and the mentorship of Collins “Coach” Lewis, Tootie Montana, and his Big Chief Victor Harris.
