Workforce Development

Investing in people. Strengthening resilience. Creating green jobs.

At Feed the Second Line, we’re committed to building climate resilience and creating economic opportunities for New Orleanians. That’s why we partnered with Louisiana Green Corps (LAGC) in 2022 as part of our Get Lit Stay Lit initiative.

LAGC has trained over 1,500 residents—many from underrepresented communities—for careers in construction, conservation, and green industries. Through our partnership, their trainees gain hands-on experience supporting solar installations at community resilience hubs across the city. These aren’t just technical projects—they’re stepping stones into real careers in the growing clean energy sector.

Together with Green Corps and Solar Alternatives, we’re not just installing panels—we’re building futures, creating jobs, and powering a more equitable New Orleans.

“Being in solar for 18 years myself, it's been a great honor for me and for everyone at Solar Alternatives to be involved in the GetLitStayLit program. We've seen all kinds of projects and technology, but no one has had as impactful and exciting an idea that really helps us see the connection of our work to the community as does working with the Stay Lits. Thanks again for letting us help with this great mission!”
